Organizational Tips for Surgical Tech Students

The life of a surgical tech student can be hectic. That’s why it pays to be organized. Whether you’re trying to figure out your hectic schedule or keep materials in order, there are a number of things you can do to make your day easier. Here are just a few organizational tips for surgical tech students.

Check Your Schedule Daily

The life of a surgical tech student can be much different than the life of the average student. Your schedule can change from day to day and will require knowing exactly where to be at what time. Not being in the right place can lead to missing important material and procedures. Invest in the best planner possible and review your schedule weekly, making sure everything is correct. You then need to check your schedule each evening to see where you’ll need to be the next day.

Lay Out the Materials You’ll Need Each Evening

Because your schedule changes from day to day, you’ll want to set out the exact materials you’ll need for the next day each evening before bed. This ensures that you always have just what you need. Do not be tempted to do this before leaving the house as you may be half asleep and forget half the tools you need. You may even want to keep separate bags packed, depending on your schedule.

Invest in Apps

There are so many apps out there that can make your life as a student easier. It doesn’t matter if you’re using an iPhone or Android based phone or if you want to spend a lot of money or no money at all. The first app you may want to consider is a scheduling app. A scheduling app that alters you to where you need to be and at what time is perfect for surgical tech students. Another great app would be a checklist app. A checklist app makes it easier to follow procedures, get homework assignments done and do research for upcoming papers. Last, but not least, invest in a good note taking app that allows you to record. This way you can record your professor’s lectures and play them back to make notes.

While it can be hectic being a surgical tech student, there are several things you can do to make the experience easier. Whether it’s staying on top of your schedule, laying out materials that you’ll need or adding a few organizational apps to your phone you can succeed in your studies by being better organized.
